Video has become one of the primary ways people learn about … anything, really. Given the importance of storytelling and connection in the nonprofit world, video is especially vital. Whether it’s long-form interviews, short-form animated pieces, or branding ads for streaming video platforms, I’ve done it all.

When budgets are tight, your audience targeting has to be on point … and so does your creative. I build multiplatform display campaigns that are carefully targeted to maximize reach efficiency, with creative elements tested (and re-tested) at each step to make sure they resonate.
THE RESULT: CFI’s display ads average 5-8x the expected category CTRs and drive significant traffic to our sites.

The Los Angeles Times has incredible access to the creators behind some of the world’s most popular genre entertainment. But most genre fans aren’t newspaper readers. Hero Complex was our attempt to bridge that gap.

Innovation was a crucial part of my work at the Times. We had to find creative new ways to make our advertisers stand out, then sell those ideas to both our clients and our (often skeptical) partners on the editorial side of the organization.

Protecting the editorial integrity of our journalism while continually raising the bar with innovative new placements and ad designs was quite a balancing act. But it gave me an opportunity to dream big … and helped change the way advertisers looked at this “old school” media property.

The (infamous) Alice in Wonderland cover wrap

It generated controversy, but it also helped spike awareness for the film ahead of its release. It also became a lucrative template that other advertisers would spend big to replicate later.

(Full disclosure: I created the original mockups for this ad, but Disney artists produced the final creative in-house.
